SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Wednesday! It was a soggy start to the day for many with these ongoing showers and thunderstorms, especially in Utah County overnight.

Boy, you will feel that the weather will change today! Significantly cooler temperatures today following an intense cold front and severe storms, with a temperature drop of more than 20 degrees from yesterday to today.

Today’s daytime highs will be in the 70s along the Wasatch Front, with Salt Lake making a real effort to reach a high of 75.

Expect scattered thunderstorms to continue for our Wednesday and a cool, cloudy and stormy day. Most of the state will see these peaks reach the 1970s, with the exception of Moab, Lake Powell and St. George which will enter the 1980s and 1990s.

Due to the scattered storms, flash flood watch has been issued specifically for flood prone areas and burn scars, now extended until Wednesday evening.

This includes most of central and southern Utah with “expected” flooding in all flood prone areas, including our national parks.

At the end of the line ? Stormy skies ahead with cooler daytime highs and risk of flash floods.
