SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – News that Tony Finau claimed his second PGA Tour victory quickly spread among concerned sports celebrities in Utah.

Finau’s relevance to Utah solidified when social media sparked a congratulatory frenzy for the Salt Lake City native.

Mitchell, Smith

Utah’s cutest athlete, Donovan Mitchell, was quick to congratulate Finau.

Jazz owner and good friend of Finau Ryan Smith has also unloaded a number of messages congratulating Finau.

BYU Love

The wave of excitement continued as the BYU head coach was seen on camera watching the tournament final putt for Finau drop. Sitake wore a Tony Finau Foundation shirt.

“Let’s go Tony! I love you brother, ”Sitake said in the video alongside BYU executive coordinator for campus recruiting and community / player relations, Jack Damuni.

BYU’s passing game coordinator Fesi Sitake also offered his congratulations.

Whittingham’s reaction

Utah Football head coach Kyle Whittingham, who enjoys spending his spare time on the golf course, seemed delighted to learn that Finau had won.

“Is he? Yes!” Whittingham pointed out. “By how much did he earn?” Has Rahm just collapsed? Whittingham added.

Finau’s victory was a reminder of how small Utah’s sporting landscape is. Every successful player, coach or mentor who lives in Utah is loved by other successful sports personalities.

It is special to see the abundance of care that the state’s respected sports figures give to a player who has gone through so much.
