SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Kelley O’Hara and Christian Press have been named Utah Professional Female Co-Athletes by the Utah Athletic Commission.

The duo were recognized for their success in the 2019 National Women’s Football League season as part of Utah Royals FC as well as members of the 2019 World Cup winning women’s team.

Press last season scored 8 goals in 14 games to help the Utah Royals to a 10-4-10 record that solidified 6th place in the NWSL. She was the team’s second-highest goalscorer and tied for sixth in the league, although she missed a handful of games due to the FIFA Women’s World Cup. She secured a spot on the 2019 NWSL Best XI squad, as well as being named the NWSL Player of the Month in August. Press has been voted the NWSL Goal of the Week winner three times.

O’Hara notched an assist in four games for the Royals in 2019 and was named to the FIFA FIFPro World XI squad for her contribution to the Women’s World Cup.

The duo have been essential in helping football thrive in Utah, especially for the thousands of young women in the state who admire and dream of one day being like Press and O’Hara.

The Governors State of Sports Awards were scheduled to take place in early April, however, due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus, the ceremony will no longer take place as originally planned.

The Utah Athletic Commission is a non-profit organization created by fully volunteer board members of sports, business, community, and government leaders statewide.

URFC previously won the Governor’s Sporting Event of the Year award at the 2019 ceremony for its home opener which took place on April 14, 2018.
